How it works

Four steps. One thing we won't do: pretend they're instant.

1

Tell us who you're staying connected to — takes about 2 minutes.

2

They add you

Your loved one adds us as a contact from inside — the only way this legally works.

3

Facility approves

Usually 2–5 business days. We'll text you the second it clears — no refreshing your email.

4

You're connected

Get texted the moment a new message arrives. Reply from your phone, we handle the rest.

The honest part

Every message has a real journey. We show you where it is.

Other services promise "unlimited instant texting" from a system that was never built for that. We'd rather tell you the truth: every message passes through a facility's official system, gets reviewed, and takes real time.

So instead of a fake "read" receipt, we show you exactly where your message actually is — queued, relayed, at the facility, delivered. No guessing.

That's not a limitation — it's the point. A status bar that's honest beats one that's just for show.

Even a quick reaction gets through

A thumbs up still means something

CorrLinks can't display emoji, so most relay services just drop a reaction entirely, or send something garbled. We don't. Tap a heart, a thumbs up, whatever's honest in the moment — instead of nothing, or a broken symbol, they get a real sentence: "(Family loved your message)." Small, but it's one more way a text still feels like you, even filtered through a system that was never built for texting.

Smarter replies

It doesn't just reply. It actually helps.

Some messages just need someone paying attention. Writing SMARTAI gets a real answer sent straight back into CorrLinks — day or night, whether you're asleep or just can't get to your phone. It remembers what's already been said, so it can ask how the GED test went instead of treating every message like the first one. And when the question is real, the answer is too: it actually checks whether a company's legit or what really happened in the news, instead of guessing. It'll also help with the smaller stuff — trivia and word games, general health questions, finding the words for a letter, even talking through a song stuck in their head. Several honest, substantial paragraphs — not a canned line. Always labeled as automated, never sent pretending to be from you.

Live scores, on demand

Their team, every score, no waiting

Missing a game doesn't mean missing out. Ask SMARTAI who won last night, how their team's doing this season, or what happened in a game they couldn't watch — it checks the real score right now, not a guess. Tell us their favorite team once from your settings page and it already knows who "my team" means, no need to spell it out every time. Something to talk about, something that still feels normal, even from here.

Legal help, any hour

A law library that's always open

Facility law libraries are real, but they're scheduled, shared, and the terminal doesn't explain anything in plain English. Writing SMARTAI with a legal question gets a real, researched answer instantly — what an appeal deadline actually means, how supervised release works, how to find legal aid — looked up fresh every time, not pulled from stale memory. It's not a replacement for an attorney on their actual case, but for the hundred smaller legal questions that come up along the way, there's no waiting for a library slot.

Getting ready for what's next

Not just today. What comes after.

SMARTAI isn't only for killing time. Ask it for help with a GED and it'll explain the concept, work through practice problems, and quiz them until it actually clicks. Ask it to polish a resume, run through a mock job interview, or explain honestly what to expect from a halfway house or supervised release. Ask about budgeting, credit, or saving, and it walks through it plainly, no assumption they've done any of this before. Small, steady steps toward the person who walks out ready — not just someone waiting to.

The point of Smart Messages

"Texting is easy. Waiting on a facility inbox isn't. Smart Messages gives you that freedom back — reply the second a message lands, from wherever you are, like you would with anyone else."

— The Smart Messages team
Not just you

They can reach more than one person

A message doesn't have to come to you. Your loved one can start a message with anyone's phone number — a grandparent, a sibling, another loved one — and it goes straight to that person instead, with the real message content. They can reply right back into CorrLinks themselves, no sign-up required. It's available on every plan, at no extra cost — and it's something we haven't seen any other CorrLinks texting service offer.

Digital cards & flowers

A real card or bouquet, sent from their tablet to your phone

Your loved one picks from 18 card designs and 5 flower bouquets and types one line into an ordinary CorrLinks message — it shows up on your phone within moments as a real picture message, their note attached. $0.50 a send, from a credit balance you buy in 10-packs.

Questions

Straight answers

Why does it take 2–5 days to connect?
Your loved one has to add us as an approved contact from inside the facility, and facility staff review every new contact before it's active. This isn't something we can speed up — it's how the system is built, for everyone.
What facilities does this work with?
Currently federal facilities using CorrLinks. State facility support (Securus) is coming soon.
What's the difference between the three plans?
Basic ($10.99) covers everything — real message content, two-way texting, and connection tracking, up to 100 messages/month. Freedom ($15.99) removes the message cap entirely — unlimited messages — and adds SMARTAI plus the optional daily devotional text. Freedom Plus ($19.99) includes everything in Freedom and adds a dedicated 888 number for your loved one, set up automatically when you sign up, so your family always knows exactly who's texting them.
What is the daily devotional?
Freedom and Freedom Plus subscribers can opt in to receive a short, AI-generated devotional text every morning at 8 AM — something encouraging to start the day. You choose your tradition (Christian, Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, or Non-denominational) from your settings page. It's completely optional, doesn't count against your message limit, and you can turn it off anytime.
Can I change the phone number that gets alerted?
Yes. When you sign up we send a private settings link — use it anytime to update your alert phone number, no login required.
What happens if my loved one writes "SMARTAI" in a message?
That's an optional feature for when a reply can't wait: including SMARTAI anywhere in the message gets an instant, thoughtful AI-drafted reply sent straight back into CorrLinks. It remembers the whole conversation, so it can follow up instead of starting from scratch, and looks up real, current information — is a company legit, today's score, what's actually going on with something in the news — instead of guessing. Always clearly labeled as automated, never sent pretending to be from you.
Can my loved one text someone besides me?
Yes. Starting a message with someone else's phone number sends it straight to them instead of you, and they can text back into CorrLinks on their own — no sign-up needed on their end. Works on every plan, and it's something we haven't seen documented on any other CorrLinks texting service.
How does the free trial work?
Every new signup gets 7 days free. We collect your card upfront so there's no second step when the trial ends — billing starts automatically on day 8. Cancel anytime before then and you won't be charged a thing.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, no contract. Contact us and we'll cancel your subscription — you won't be charged again after your current billing period ends.
